My Valentine For A Lifetime
Come home my Jinni, come home to your forever valentine...
Jas
As my fingers press into the recess of an old pot pourri jar, the gentle scents of its content tickle my senses, and my mind takes a journey, on the gossamer tendrils of its fragrance, through The Memories Of A Life Time...

To my sweet Jinni,

Life is such an amazing thing. We come across so many things in our life and yet we manage to not remember most of what we see, hear and feel. Not too long ago, I cut short one of my business trips to fly off to see someone very dear to me. But of course she argued and retaliated as she normally does and gave a thousand reasons as to why I should not be going there to see her. One of our mutual friends had informed me that she had suddenly taken very seriously ill and wild horses couldn't have kept me away from her. So I just hopped on the first plane headed that way and almost jumped off the plane when I saw her homeland. Set upon azure velvet were these scattered emeralds. Home to the lady who holds the key to my heart.
I don’t remember much about how I cleared from security and customs but all I remember is stepping into the bright sunshine and wondering how I'd react when I see her. I collected myself and my bag and set out to see her. I called her to let her know that I was here and would like to see her. I had her address and I could have just as easily made my way there to surprise her but I had her and her family to consider. My heart did a double somersault when she gave me the name of a restaurant and asked me to meet her there in a bit.
She walked in through the glass doors like a cool summer breeze and as her eyes settled on me I could feel myself going warm all over. I helped her into her seat and she smiled brilliantly. She looked pale and drawn and though she tried to hide it I saw that she looked worn out. And her eyes held a sadness which almost broke my heart. And though I wanted to take her in my arms and tell her that I'd take care of her, instead I just sat there and carried on animatedly with her.
The time just flew by and all I ever wanted to do was sit there and listen to her sweet voice. She was trying to persuade me to go back, explaining to me in great detail as to why I shouldn't "waste my time" there with her. I tried hard not to laugh at her reasonings and just sat there smiling like a fool while basking in her presence.
Okay, so she did get me to return to work a day later but those beautiful moments stayed with me all the time. Having returned home, I look around at what I have built with my own two hands. What I had, until then, called as my home. Suddenly it feels empty and lifeless without her laughter and warmth to echo off the walls and ring through the halls. All I could think of was how she could turn something thing meagre and plain into something of wonder and awe. My perspective on this world keels just a tad and the whole wide world looks all new.
I visited one of my elderly neighbours upon my return. She has these two cats and while she knits, she gives then one of her knitting yarns to play with. That day I was watching them play and get themselves all tangled up in the wool and I had to untie them from each other. And I couldn’t help myself but wish that it was me, all tangled up with my sweetheart. But unlike the two cats, I don’t want to get untangled. I just want to remain that way, forever.
Oh can you imagine how sweet life would be, if our lives were tied up together. So tangle me up in my life with yours and never let me go. So my sweet Jinni, be mine and make me forever yours.
